The House Competition Vision
The House Competition at DRHS gives all students the opportunity to engage with the spirit of competition outside the classroom. Students often have to organise, lead and manage themselves to compete giving them invaluable experience of soft-skills which we recognise as fundamental in building successful people.
On entering the school students are set into Houses: Barwell, Bearland, Hartland, Kyneburga or Mynd. Take a look at the House history here.
The House competition is divided into sporting events (for example House Netball); those based around Academic subjects (House Art) and whole-school events (Sports Day). Teams are organised by Student House Captains and Houses win points in events depending on how they do.
In addition to these points, in the classroom House Points for Effort, Achievement and Community are also tallied and added to the overall House scores. Houses thus accrue points throughout the year, at the end of which a House Champion is celebrated.
